Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands: A Caribbean Gem
I’m notorious for overstuffing trips, much to my wife’s frustration. For instance, why not add Park Hotel Vitznau to Switzerland? As a result, we got married there two years later. Similarly, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands, while not a wedding spot (polygamy’s a no-go), surprised me with its undeniable charm.
Exploring Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Conveniently, a 25-minute boat ride from Tortola or five minutes from Virgin Gorda’s airport brings you to Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands. Here, the resort stretches over a mile of pristine beach, framed by a reef and calm waters. Naturally, the white sand dazzles, but, additionally, the lush gardens add allure. With just 81 rooms, it feels intimate yet impressive and offers plenty—walk, bike, or, for ease, hop a golf cart. For example, snorkeling, tennis, and a petting zoo engage everyone. However, my kids trashed our room like tiny tornadoes, so consequently, photos show the Pool Suite.
Staying at Rosewood Little Dix Bay

My main issue is this: why, puzzlingly, aren’t the top rooms beachfront at Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands? For comparison, Amanyara’s beach villas fetch $25k nightly, and this shore could compete. Yet, oddly, villas sit hillside, a buggy ride away. I toured one and, frankly, found it dark, dull, and underwhelming. Likewise, pool suites prioritize privacy over beach access. Therefore, I’d pick the two-bedroom suite: beachfront and spacious, though, admittedly, no pool. Rosewood, perhaps beach villas deserve a thought?
Our Treetop Suite was, initially, just okay. Positioned twenty meters from the beach on stilts, it had a private deck with views. However, with no shade, it was useless for this pale Brit. Moreover, the loud air conditioning and tiny, lockless bathroom—too close to the living room—disappointed. Still, its simple design, like The Brando’s, felt luxurious. Plus, family-friendly perks, such as sliding doors and a baby monitor, helped. Nevertheless, no TV and a paid minibar irked me. Over time, the suite grew on me, but, ultimately, for a top category, it fell short.
Dining at Rosewood Little Dix Bay

After Necker’s all-inclusive ease, bills here hit hard. Fortunately, Reef House, Sugar Mill, and Pavilion offer Caribbean, tapas, and Indian-inspired fare. For instance, Reef House goes Mexican on Saturdays—a fun twist. Consequently, dinner topped Necker’s hands down. Breakfast, meanwhile, emphasized quality—meats, pastries, and eggs to order. Yet, food was patchy, so some dishes shone, while others I skipped. Shockingly, the banana milkshake was awful twice. Also, $8 for a kid’s ice cream scoop stung, especially since my daughter’s floor claimed most. Thankfully, free beach ice cream was a lifesaver.
Service at Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Service was, undoubtedly, stellar. Not only were the staff friendly, but they were also quick and remembered preferences effortlessly. Although “butlers” managed multiple rooms, they delivered when needed. From managers to groundskeepers, everyone cared. However, the kids’ club stumbled—spacious, but, frustratingly, the constant TV missed the mark. Still, it entertained our daughter, though, admittedly, I’ve seen better.
Amenities at Rosewood Little Dix Bay
At Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands, two pools (one kid-friendly), a great gym, seven tennis courts, and a petting zoo with goats and tortoises keep things lively. Additionally, free snorkeling and kayak races add excitement. Regrettably, I missed the spa’s infinity pool because of the kids. Naturally, the boutique is a must.

Verdict

Surprisingly, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands, was my Caribbean favorite. Although room placement and food aren’t perfect, it’s magic shines through. The beach is a dream, and the service feels heartfelt. Plus, it balances family fun with seclusion. Unlike Necker, where no one planned to return, guests here are regulars or eager to be. Therefore, I’m eyeing my next trip to Rosewood Little Dix Bay, British Virgin Islands.
